The Annual Report provides information on the Council's activities during the previous financial year including an analysis of the Council's research and training expenditure, and its research portfolio.
All Research Councils published Delivery Plans as part of the 2007 Spending Review allocations process. The Plans set out each Council's funding priorities and outline the activities that they intend to undertake over the Spending Review period.
The ESRC Strategic Plan 2009-2014 sets out the Council's key priorities for the next five years, complementing and building upon the more immediate priorities set out in the ESRC Delivery Plan.

Under ESRC's Research Ethics Framework (REF) the council only funds social science research where consideration has been given to ethical implications, and in those institutions where appropriate arrangements are in place.
