Management and Business Development Fellowships
Please note: The deadline for Business Schools to submit their nomination forms has been extended to Friday 30th April 2010 to aid Schools with their recruiting process. BackgroundThe Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) recently invited proposals from UK Research Organisations (ROs) to host Management and Busines Developmet Fellowships, with additional co-funding provided by the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS). As a result of this call the ESRC and SAMS have awarded 16 Fellowships across eleven institutions. Management and Business Development Fellowships are aimed at talented individuals at an early to mid career level who have between five and fifteen years active experience after completing the minimum of an undergraduate degree. Such individuals may have started either a professional career in business or management, or an academic research career in a different discipline, but should now be seeking to make a career change into a research active management and busness academic career. Applicants for a Fellowship award should reflect the following qualifications eligibility criteria. - Individuals who have worked in professional business practice or a public or third sector management post for the past five years will be expected to have at least an undergraduate degree. The achievement of any subsequent professional qualifications can be counted within the 5-15 year active experience eligibility range. Such individuals must be able to demonstrate substantial skills and experience in professional management, as well as an understanding and appreciation of research.
- Individuals from a different academic discipline will be expected already to have a PhD in their original field of study.
- All individuals will be expected to demonstrate the potential to develop excellent research skills, as well as commitment to developing an academic career in management and business studies.
