Governance and structure
The Council is the senior decision making body for ESRC. It is made up of members from business, civil society and the public sector, as well as representatives from the academic community.
In 2010 we introduced membership of public representatives onto our policy committees. These members represent the interests of the wider public. Council comprises a structure of committees that work alongside a Peer Review College and Grants Delivery Panels.
The Chief Executive is responsible for the implementation of the ESRC's policies and decisions, and for the overall management of the ESRC Office.
The ESRC has around 120 staff divided between two directorates.
Declarations of interest
Members are required to declare any private, professional or commercial interests that might conceivably conflict with the interests of the ESRC. These interests are updated annually and are open to public inspection.
