Around half of proposal decisions are made within five months of application, and around three quarters within six months.
Please bear these general figures in mind when preparing a proposal and suggesting a start date.
Reviewer response rates
The most significant determinant of the time taken to make a decision on any proposal tends to be the reviewing stage. See the Research Funding Guide for more details of the peer review process.
Without sufficient usable reviews we are unable to make funding decisions. We monitor reviewer response rates to identify potential issues at an individual, organisational or community level. Where necessary we will intervene to address poor response rates.
