ESRC-JSPS collaborative seminars

This call is now closed and this page is for information only.

ESRC and JSPS (the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science) have agreed to collaborate on funding research seminars aimed at bringing together Japanese and British based researchers on any topic in the social sciences. A competition is being held for funding for up to £15,000 and 2.5 million Yen for research seminars to be held in the period April 2012-March 2013. Applications may be made for either one or, alternatively, two related seminars. If the latter, it is expected that events will take place in both countries. It is envisaged that research seminars will involve a broadly similar number of UK and Japanese based researchers.

The 2012 competition is now open for collaborative seminars on any topic in the Social Sciences (as defined by ESRC's remit). Applications should be submitted, in parallel, to ESRC and JSPS by the UK and Japan-based seminar leaders respectively. Costs for UK and Japanese participants will be met by ESRC and JSPS respectively.

The closing date is 16.00 on 13 September 2011.
