Follow on Funding scheme
This scheme provides the opportunity to apply for knowledge exchange and impact generating activities that follow-on from a specific piece of research.
The scheme is designed to be flexible, applications for either a single activity or a combination of activities are welcomed, and applicants are encouraged to think creatively about the format of the knowledge exchange. Follow on funding should be thought of as an extension and complement to the Pathways to Impact section of a research grant and should involve research users from the earliest stages of proposal development.
The call is now open with a closing date of 27 October 2011. Call documents, including the scheme guidance are provided below.
Examples of activities that have already been funded through ESRC's Knowledge Exchange schemes:
Developing vodcasts (video podcasts), for instance, to help disseminate educational information in a way that makes it accessible for primary and secondary school science teachers. More information on award RES-192-22-0001.
Development of a network, such as the Oxford University China-Africa Network Global Connect Project, which aims to establish a virtual community providing a forum in which members from all over the world can engage with each other and with new research on salient China-Africa issues. More information on award RES-192-22-0014.
The use of popular educational techniques. For example a knowledge exchange small grant project used social theatre to generate a series of interactive dialogues within a community on the connected themes of poverty, inequality, environmental pollution, and climate change. More information on award RES-192-22-0046.
The staging of museum and virtual exhibitions such as those produced by a follow on fund project investigating the history and heritage of Welsh Copper. This project was carried out in partnership with project partners including museums in Swansea and the city and County of Swansea. More information on award RES-189-25-0075.
The development of online resources. For example a project which is working with a relationship support organisation, with the aim of developing online relationship resources and training models for the benefit of ‘mixed’ couples and their children, health and social welfare practitioners and support groups. More information on award RES-189-25-0115.
