Visiting scholars and fellowships

Agreements with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences. Grants are available for individual research visits to the partner Academy, and for joint projects - Library of Congress Placement Scheme
We are collaborating with the Arts and Humanities Council in the AHRC 2012 International Placement Scheme, offering AHRC and ESRC-funded postgraduate students, research assistants and early career researchers a short-term fellowship at the Library of Congress, Washington, USA.
Networking
- RCUK India Office Travel Funding for Early Career Researchers 2010-2011 (external website)
Funds are available to support a single trip to India for early career researchers to attend a workshop or other similar event in India. These funds are specifically to enable UK based, early career researchers, to accompany Research Council supported researchers centrally involved in organising or planning an event in India. - ESRC International Partnership and Networking Scheme

The Department for International Development (DFID) and ESRC have agreed to continue their strategic partnership to provide a joint funding scheme for development research. The purpose of the scheme is to provide a more robust conceptual and empirical basis for development, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). - UK Collaborative on Development Sciences (external website)
UKCDS brings together key UK funders and stakeholders who provide support for the development sciences research base. Members of UKCDS work together to establish a framework for co-ordinating development sciences research in the UK. Its aim is to provide sustainable improvements and benefits for the lives of the world's poorest people. ESRC is a founding member.
