Book chapter details

Climate change, human tights and moral thresholds
This paper argues that anthropogenic climate change jeopardizes fundamental human rights. It focuses on three human rights - the right to life, the right to health and the right to subsistence - motivates support for each of these rights, and shows how climate change violates each of them. It argues that a 'human rights approach' has advantages over other ways of thinking about the impacts of climate change. It concludes by examining the implications of adopting a 'human rights' approach to climate change.
