Alex Pollard's photograph 'When time slows down' - entered in the young photographer category, was announced as winner of the public vote. He and the other category winners in the Portraits of Britain photography competition, were each presented with a prize and trophy by David Willets MP, during a private viewing of the Portraits of Britain exhibition on 7 November.

The launch of the exhibition, at the Festival of Social Science 2012 flagship event, was held at the Strand Gallery, London, and showcased all the winning and runner up photographs, along with a selection of the over 450 images we received. The exhibition was open to the public from 8-11 November 2012.
